SnoTemp Cold Storage is a family-run business founded in 1957, providing temperature-controlled storage across 805,000 sq ft of warehouse space in Eugene, Albany, and Redmond, Oregon. Rooted in family values of trust and hard work, the team is known for reliability and integrity, which is what lets it offer dependable service.
With a large footprint and extensive ground operations, physical security is foundational to that service. SnoTemp was an early adopter of security cameras, installing its first system in 2010. What grew up over the years, though, was a set of disparate systems, each engineered for a specific site — Honeywell, Hikvision, and GW Security cameras that left security gaps and consumed exorbitant cost and time in upkeep.
Each location had a different setup, and there was no way to see everything in a single pane of glass. Cameras went offline at random, leaving stretches of unrecorded time; when DHCP changed a camera’s IP address, it went offline and never re-registered on its own. The Hikvision and Honeywell solutions were hard to maintain, limited in remote access, and, with no footage insights, demanded hours of manual supervision. “It has been hit and miss, and it has been a pain point that not all systems were on the same platform,” said Shawn Thomas, Director of IT. “Our previous systems were not enterprise systems.”
The Solution

The rollout began at the Albany warehouse and quickly expanded to Eugene, running on the cameras SnoTemp already owned plus new cameras Coram provided. “We started with the Albany [warehouse], and then quickly expanded to Eugene,” said Trent Catmull, IT Specialist. “Coram AI used our existing cameras and then also provided new cameras.”
