Lakepointe Church has served the Rockwall community for over 40 years with one mission: to help people reach Christ. As the church expanded to six campuses and a staff of more than 300, its aging security camera system began to struggle; losing footage, slowing down, and hitting server limits. “We definitely wanted cloud-based technology. I did not want servers in house anymore,” recalls the IT team. Their goal was clear: modernize, scale, and simplify security while reducing long-term cost and technical overhead.
Lakepointe’s legacy on-prem system couldn’t keep pace with expansion. Servers were “aging,” performance lagged, and at times footage was lost, creating serious gaps in coverage across a large, open campus network. Adding cameras only made things worse. With limited staff, the security team also struggled to retrieve footage quickly. They needed camera-agnostic flexibility, intuitive tools, mobile access, and AI-powered search and alerts to keep up with daily demands.
After evaluating options, Lakepointe chose Coram for its modern AI capabilities, ease of deployment, and commitment to partnership. “We didn’t need a 100% perfect working system. We needed to know we had a partner that would work with us and understand what our mission was,” says Chief Technology Officer Jerry Welch. Coram proved its value early by helping Lakepointe plan, configure, and deploy without disruption. “The implementation was fairly simple. They shipped us preconfigured appliances that we just had to attach to our network.”
With Coram in place, Lakepointe’s small security team can act faster and manage incidents independently. “Prior to Coram, my team would have to work through getting that footage for the security team because we were the only ones who had access,” explains IT Director Bill Crowsey. “We’re now able to give access to the team so they can do that on their own; and do it more efficiently and quickly.”
Remote management has become effortless. “One of the things that stuck out… was how easy it was for us to push different video screens out to our campuses remotely… without going on site,” says the team. AI-powered alerts now help identify “bad actors” approaching the campus, giving staff real-time visibility and peace of mind.
