“I always believe that a platform sells itself.” That was the bar for Randy White, USOP’s Senior Vice President of IT and security, as he searched for a system that worked across small clinics and large facilities, without ballooning cost or complexity.
With 10 practices, USOP’s environment was “disparate.” Some sites ran dated, hard-to-use systems; others had no cameras at all. Finding footage took too long for HR and operations, and IT spent valuable time helping teams dig up answers. The mandate: better video quality, access-anywhere management and – critically – speed to resolution that saved staff time and protected patients.
USOP discovered Coram via an advertisement and began evaluating, comparing it with platforms that Randy already knew, including pilots with other vendors like Verkada. Coram fit the bill, so the team ran tests and pilots that proved beneficial. Cost structure, quality, and day-to-day usability all factored in; as Randy put it, “service quality and pricing… when you’re in growth mode, that’s what you look for.”
Rollout has been straightforward, with IT staff at each site handling network setup and training. Practice administrators adopted the system quickly and are already using it to surface what matters faster. For Randy, the key wins are simpler discovery and quicker hand-offs to HR/ops. “It needs to be simple to find what we need and keep the staff secured.”
Coram also supported USOP with access control planning. Randy is preparing to deploy Coram access control for a current location and a new ambulatory surgery center. Coram’s team reviewed existing gear on-site to minimize rip-and-replace and guide a phased path forward: “They showed up and we did a walkthrough… I was thinking I was going to have to replace a lot of equipment and that simply was not the case.” The early collaboration gives Randy confidence the current doors will tie cleanly into the future system.
Before → After
Asked if he’d recommend Coram, Randy was clear: “Yes, I would recommend Coram.” His guidance to peers is to align expectations and use cases: Coram can fit small or large clinics and grow as needs arise.
